Chapter 1.13 - Responsibility

Now that Bonnie was a teenager, Amber decided it was time for her to take some extra responsibilities. Bonnie wasn't interested in any of the clubs that the school offered and she outright refused to get a part time job, she said she had far more important things to do than some silly part time work. Amber thought long and hard about how to teach her somewhat rebellious daughter some responsibility. Enter Millie, Amber adopted her daughter a cat of her own to look after. She hoped that this responsibility would keep Bonnie occupied, the girl had been causing trouble all over the place and the last thing Amber needed was the cops sniffing around. It was obvious that Bonnie had inherited a lot from Amber and was acting just the way she had as a teenager, acting in the way that had got Amber banished from her home. It could draw some unwanted attention and Amber didn't want to have to start again in another town, nor did she want to do to Bonnie what her parents had done to

Chapter 1.12 - Growing So Fast

Amber had been very busy looking after Cassandra and also trying to give Bonnie the attention she deserved. Bonnie was very independent and it made it easy to forget that she needed the same amount of attention that any child would. Amber tried her best to bond with both her daughters equally, she and Bonnie had a very special connection in the sense that Bonnie was exactly like Amber used to be, so Amber felt the two of them had an understanding that didn't exist between herself and her own parents. Their daily chess games were getting more intense and Bonnie often said some things that other parents would probably find disturbing but she and Amber would share a laugh over it. It was finally Cassandra's birthday, Amber opted for a private celebration as opposed to the usual party she would organise, as it wasn't long before Bonnie's birthday either and she didn't feel like she could handle having two parties in the same week! She had ordered a cake just fo

Chapter 1.11 - Concerns

Winter was nearly over. Amber had spent it preparing for Bonnie's new sibling. David hadn't been in touch since Amber started her maternity leave, but she was independent enough that this wasn't the top of her list of concerns. She was more concerned about Bonnie than her unborn child, Bonnie had been acting oddly. Amber wasn't sure if it was because of Ayden's death or just her daughter's nature, but something didn't seem right with that child. She would spend hours alone in her bedroom and even when they were in the same room she would hardly speak. Amber had continued to work out through her pregnancy, despite looking forward to bringing a new life into the world, there was still an empty space in her heart. An empty space that exercising seemed to temporarily make disappear. When she worked out, all of Amber's woes were put to the back of her mind and she focused purely on moving her body. Maybe she had pushed herself too far though, beca

Chapter 1.10 - Breaking the News

Amber was still dealing with Ayden's sudden death. It had been difficult and she still hadn't told Bonnie. After all, Bonnie was very young and probably wouldn't even understand what her mother meant. Amber and Ayden had only just started getting to grips with their renewed relationship and she now felt like there was a big hole in her life where he used to be. She was lonely. It was a new loneliness, one that her daughter and cat couldn't fill. Amber found herself going out for runs again. It had been a long time, but just like before it helped her clear her mind. She would run home from work so as not to have to hire a babysitter just for her to go jogging. It was the morning of Bonnie's birthday and Amber had to get the house looking perfect before the party started. She got up early and cleaned the house from top to bottom. She had invited a bunch of people over for the party in the hopes that being surrounded by people would help stop the loneliness i
