Chapter 1.13 - Responsibility

Now that Bonnie was a teenager, Amber decided it was time for her to take some extra responsibilities. Bonnie wasn't interested in any of the clubs that the school offered and she outright refused to get a part time job, she said she had far more important things to do than some silly part time work. Amber thought long and hard about how to teach her somewhat rebellious daughter some responsibility.

Enter Millie, Amber adopted her daughter a cat of her own to look after. She hoped that this responsibility would keep Bonnie occupied, the girl had been causing trouble all over the place and the last thing Amber needed was the cops sniffing around. It was obvious that Bonnie had inherited a lot from Amber and was acting just the way she had as a teenager, acting in the way that had got Amber banished from her home. It could draw some unwanted attention and Amber didn't want to have to start again in another town, nor did she want to do to Bonnie what her parents had done to her.
"And besides," Amber thought "I love cats!"

Millie and Simon soon got to know each other, they seemed to get along which made Amber happy that she had chosen a girl cat. Two boy cats and there could have been a territorial war between the two of them to decide who was the king around here. But Simon was quite welcoming to Millie and started socialising almost immediately.
You can basically go where you want, as long as you don't ever sleep in MY spot on my human's bed. Ok?
Ok, so which human is yours?
The taller one.

Bonnie had been begging her mother ever since her birthday to teach her to drive. Amber had been uncertain at first, Bonnie seemed to have no difficulty getting around town to cause trouble as it was, allowing her to drive surely would only increase the amount of "pranks" she would be able to pull?
"Come on mother!" Bonnie pleaded, "I'm old enough to learn to drive, and it will mean I can help out with things like the shopping and taking Cassandra places when you're too busy."
Amber was running out of excuses not to take her on driving lessons, she didn't want Bonnie to know how concerned she was regarding her behaviour in case it led to her acting out even more.
"Fine, I have a couple of hours before work." She said, "Come on, get your coat on."

Sitting in a car with Bonnie was quite scary, she hadn't quite figured out how to drive it properly and Amber was doing her best not to nag her. She found that the best way to teach Bonnie was to let her figure it out for herself and only help if she asked.
"I hope this car has airbags!" Amber found herself thinking for the first time since buying it.

Millie and Simon were really getting on well, Amber was glad to see Simon have another cat to play with, she had often wondered if he got lonely when nobody  was in the house.

Amber was also glad to notice that Bonnie was taking her responsibility for looking after Millie quite seriously. Maybe looking after Millie would distract her from her other...hobbies.
Bonnie and Millie were becoming quite good friends.
"After all," Bonnie thought, "I could do with Millie's company, cats are quite intelligent and she definitely isn't as annoying as people tend to be. Maybe because she doesn't talk constantly."

Oooh, that brush feels nice, you really know how to make me feel loved human!

God dammit human, why can't I catch the little red light? What trickery is this?

Even Amber was bonding with Millie, she decided to help her daughter get her cat housetrained, so she helped by praising Millie when she used the litter box and telling her off when she scratched the furniture.
I like you, but you're Simon's human, he won't like it if he sees this.

The cats were going through scratching posts too quickly and Amber decided to get them a little cat condo to use, it would give them plenty of posts to scratch as well as something to play on.
I approve of this, but I am still going to sleep on your bed human. Simon thought
I think this will be my new bed, that small human keeps waking me up and pulling my tail when I sleep in that room.

Speaking of the small human...ahem...I mean Cassandra, it was finally her birthday. Again, Amber had a small private celebration. She didn't want to spook Millie by inviting a lot of people around. Besides, most of the children would be in school this time of day and Amber was going to be at work this evening, so morning was the only time she could celebrate with her daughter.

And Cassandra was finally a child! Hopefully she wouldn't be as much of a handful as her older sister.
Amber was grateful that she no longer had babies and toddlers to look after, they were so much work. Now that Cassandra was old enough to attend school, she could finally start focusing more on her work.

  1. Yay, new cat! Millie and Simon are so cute, and Bonnie is so good taking care of her. Can't believe Cassandra grew up already. Does she look a lot like her dad, or is it just the derpyface that does it?

    1. She looks like her dad yeah. She looked a lot more like him (David Pok isn't the best looking guy) and I couldn't stand her face at first so I edited her a little as a toddler (seriously, she inherited his nose, his eyes and his mouth, basically she had all his features)

  2. I think the cat's interactions with each other are cute. It's great how Amber is worrying over the girls but hiding it, she's become very responsible, huh? Time flies though, all grown up from toddlers and everything!
